A record of the Ontario community’s 2019 gathering; the prize activities belong to that past event.

This is a historical greeting or event record, retained in its original context.

Canada, The Old Post, 1 September 2019

By this event, PhDSciNet in Canada had been active for three years. Through everyone’s efforts, we had become a community described at the time as including more than 200 PhD researchers. To encourage sparks between disciplines, our Ontario group organized an in-person activity: a challenge at The Old Post, described by the organizers as one of Ontario’s most difficult escape rooms.

Our team had eleven participants, with disciplines including:

Civil Engineering, Astrophysics, Applied Physics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Chemistry, etc.

During an intense 90 minutes of solving puzzles, everyone worked together, divided up the tasks, and used the strengths and knowledge of their respective disciplines. Together, we solved a series of complex puzzles.

Did we actually escape? The original event invited readers to guess in the comments for a gift, and offered one escape-room ticket to a reader in Canada who was interested. These were historical prize activities; this restored page is not a current invitation to enter.
